THERMAL CHAIN SOLUTIONS

Sedef A.Ş. was founded in 1978 in order to address variable needs of the logistics sector and specialized in Innovative Logistics Solutions.
In the early 2000s, food safety concerns prompted the company's second generation executives to focus on solutions related to traceability and cold-chain issues. This resulted in the introduction of waste reduction solutions for the food and medicine industries, such as temperature-time labels, freshness labels, and oxygen indicators.
With growing attention on biosphere-friendly alternatives and a sense of responsibility towards the environment, Sedef AŞ executives began focusing on regenerative thermal chain solutions, which prioritize energy-efficiency, bio-degradability, compostability, and recycling practices.
This led to the creation of a new product range of solutions under the Temp-Ex brand in 2010, and the establishment of an R&D and P&D laboratory in 2014 to test new products and materials. The company is committed to offering its product validations at international standards and is constantly incorporating innovative approaches into its research procedures.

Solution
for PERISHABLE

Effective protection against temperature fluctuations during logistics operations of temperature-sensitive perishable commodities. From field to fork, uninterrupted protection provided by Temp-Ex solutions reduce shelf-life related losses considerably.
PARCEL LOADING CONVENIENCE
High-insulation models allow for parcel loading, independent of in-vehicle temperatures. For multiple-point deliveries, specially designed protection options are offered against temperature changes caused by opening the doors, exposing the goods to outside temperatures. Operational costs and carbon footprint is reduced, thanks to Temp-Ex protection solutions, which allow for commodities with different temperatures to be delivered together in the same vehicle.
BREATHABILITY
Breathable models are preferred for their ability to prevent condensation, respiration and to remove hazardous gases from the environment, thus protecting product integrity and preventing early maturation of commodities such as fresh vegetables and fruits, cut flowers and wine.
QUALITY ASSURANCE SUPPORT
Temp-Ex Solutions protect from external factors such as hot, cold, rain, pollen, insects and cross-contaminants, and support HACCP applications.
B2C SOLUTIONS
Temp-Ex works together with retail and logistics companies in order to secure consumer satisfaction, reduce process costs and prevent waste by offering box in bag, bag in box, regular bags and other process-specific designs suitable for last mile logistics.
SPECIAL PROTECTION FOR AGED FLAVOURS
Container covers and bags designed specially for daily operations provide protection from sunlight and heat, for domestic and foreign wine producers.
CUSTOM DESIGNS
Pallet and roll-container covers and multi-chambered bags with multiple insulation layers provide protection for multiple delivery points; functional solutions which facilitate and reduce costs of reverse logistics demands are inspected carefully and then the prototypes are prepared and tested.
FIELD TO FORK THERMAL PROTECTION SIMULATION
Software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing allows for taking into account the worst-case scenarios during field to fork process, including external factors such as direct sunlight, wind and rain, for commodities with different physical features, from peas to beef, milk to ice cream. After identifying appropriate testing components for all temperature ranges, tests are carried out in real environments and in testing rooms. Finally, these test results are validated by a 3D thermal simulation developed by Temp-Ex engineers.
for PHARMACEUTICALS & LIFE SCIENCES
Temp-Ex Thermal Protection Solutions, now a preferred brand by Turkish and European pharmaceutical and life science companies, are used for protecting temperature-sensitive goods in barrels, pallets, air and sea cargos.
OPTIONS FOR CONVENIENCE
A wide range of options, from multi-use thermal covers and bags, to single use cover models, suitable for commodities with different temperature sensitivity ranges.
MEETING SECTOR STANDARDS
Solutions and models, depending on the area of use, are; GDP, WHO, IATA and UN Category B compliant.
LAB APPLICATIONS CLARIFYING RISKS
Appropriate testing components for all temperature ranges are identified via software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing in our laboratory. Solutions are designed delicately thanks to SIL technology, which makes visible the effects of phenomena such as wavelength-dependent reflection, indirect reflection and convection. Identification of critical measurement points for experimental studies allow for testing in real environments and in testing rooms. Finally, these test results are confirmed for different limiting conditions in 3D thermal simulations developed by Temp-Ex engineers.
For loads which need protection in 0/4°C, 0/7°C, 2/8°C, 15-25°C, (-)18/(-)24 °C temperature ranges;
-
Pallet covers
-
Barrel covers
-
20’’ and 40’’ container covers
-
Air cargo ULD covers (PMC, AKE, AKH, etc.)
are manufactured with either breathable or standard Temp-Ex protection.

ADDITIONAL SOLUTIONS

Data Loggers: Easy temperature and location monitoring of protected goods, provided by Blulog and Temp-Ex collaboration. Temp-Ex protection can be tracked using NFC and RF technologies, which allow for accessing temperature history log at any moment.

Eutectic Plates: Cool and cold commodities can be kept at a target temperature range for up to 90 hours by addition of appropriate eutectic plates to Temp-Ex Thermal Solutions.
Protection

EFFECTIVE PROTECTION FOR AIR CARGO
Provides protection from weather conditions such as temperature fluctuations, rain, and wind, during handling of the cargo by the airline or ground services personnel and throughout the journey.
CHOOSING SOLUTIONS FOR REDUCING OPERATIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL COSTS
Perishable commodities are kept in controlled and safe environments during the major part of a logistics operation,so, providing additional thermal protection which exceeds the foreseeable risks, results in unnecessary costs only. Regardless of the duration of the shipment, either with direct or connecting flights, choosing the right passive protection solution is critical for reducing both operational costs and environmental impact of the process. However, loaders can not predict the risks and how to eliminate them, so they prefer the higher amount of protection, causing unnecessary expenditure of the resources. Temp-Ex laboratory is located near the sub-tropical belt, where appropriate thermal protection capacity is identified by conducting tests under direct sunlight, in testing rooms and with various simulation software, in order to determine supply-chain temperature profile for goods in different sizes, weights and configurations.
UNDERSTANDING WHAT HEAT TRANSFER MEANS
In unprotected outdoor environments such as aprons, very high or very low temperature values may damage the cargo through heat transfer (conduction). Meanwhile, strong air currents occuring on wide and open spaces like aprons, cause increased heat transfer (convection) between the cargo and the external environment. Also, direct sun radiation on the apron and reflection of this radiation from nearby surfaces, may expose the goods to temperatures up to 55-75°C.
In order to provide the most effective protection for perishable commodities, which are exposed to harsh external conditions through these three fundamental heat transfer mechanisms (conduction, convection and radiation), Temp-Ex offers specially designed, breathable thermal cover varities with reflective and insulative metalized surfaces.
